The Little Things Thursday Tea Time

Thursday, May 3, 2018
Themed days for blog posts are fun.  Remember when I told you I'm not going to worry too much about making sure my blog resonates because I feel that people need to get to know me in person (here)?  Well, I still feel that way but a blogger is gonna blog.  I love blogging and I'm not going to worry too much about SEO and making sure my content is Google ready.  I mean, I've been doing this for well over 10 years and the blogging world has changed so much.  Everything is for profit, which is not a bad thing, it's just a different animal than when I first started blogging.

Yes, it would be great to do this as a full-time, full-earning job, but to keep it 100: I don't have the ambition or the drive to work as hard as you need to to do that.  Keeping it real.  Blogging is not easy.  It takes a ton of time, research, focus and lots of determination and commitment.

The comparison game is certainly the thief of joy when it comes to blogging because I don't know how the successful bloggers do it.

How do they do it?

Even when they share their schedules, content calendars, automation practices and all their great advice, putting it into practice just does not align with my life.  How do you spend quality time with your spouse, and kids, help them with walk and talk, read and write, help with homework, make dinner, clean a house, work out, get enough sleep, blog, make your Instagram feed gorgeous and cohesive, post on Facebook, build a community, pin, tweet, stumble, be crafty and look fabulous, every single day?  I'm still trying to find that answer.

Do you know how??

Right now, I want this blog to fill in the gaps for my brand and really just be a place to express myself.  I had an affirmation challenge a few weeks back and created a simple video every day for 7 days.  I liked doing that.  I will be doing that more.  But I'm still here blogging about random things and while I hope thousands of people read my content, I'm just going to have to be ok with the 5 folks that I know will, ha!

Now with my spilling the tea, passive aggressive blogging manifesto out of the way, I want to get to today's topic:  Describe a little thing - one of the things you love that defines your world but is often overlooked.

This was tough for me because I don't consider most defining issues as little things but I have to take a step back and understand the broader meaning of the prompt.  Something considered "little" because we may not pay enough attention to it.  So for me, I'm going with...

Silence.

In a world full of noise and certainly a house full of noise (kiddos y'all), silence is certainly precious to me and something I don't get a lot of.  I think it's why meditation really struck a cord with me when I started practicing a few months ago.  It's quiet and reflective.

I can be pretty loud and boisterous at times so I think silence and peace is a natural antithesis to my personality.  We all need balance and silence gives that to me.  Funny that I've always been very comfortable being alone, in silence but not around other people without noise or conversation.  I need to remember to try and be silent even in times where it may not be that comfortable.

Thank you for reading today.  As always, I'd love for you to share your thoughts.  What is a "Little Thing" that is actually very important in your life?  Comment below!
