Top Ten Tuesday: Scary Movies

I'm so addicted to Snapchat (@frenchrum) so I thought this picture was befitting of this week's Top Ten List - Scary movies (in ascending order).   

1:  Aliens (1986) - Memories.  This movie takes me back to slumber parties and popcorn.  Seeing this as a youngster was awesome b/c it scared me and I loved every minute of it and Ripley was bad ass.

2: A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) - Johnny Depp.  In the Bed.  With all The Blood.  And I was like 6, so yeah, I had nightmares.

3: Jaws (1975) - That music.  From the jump, this movie is so suspenseful and Roy Schneider as Chief Brody was just so good.

4: Poltergeist (1982) - The family was cursed.  The movie was cursed.  Am I cursed?

5: The Ring (2002) - A guy I was dating at the time knew I was watching this in my apartment all alone and decided to call me on my landline phone during the movie and not say anything and freak me out.  We didn't last long.

6: The Exorcist (1973) - I have always loved scary movies and even I was scared to watch this until I was in my early teens.  Ok, 12 but still.  Once I did, it was so worth it.  Gotta love religious horror.

7: The Shining (1980) - Creepy as all.  Jack Nicholson's face is scary enough in the movie not to mention the great story, score, and the Overlook Hotel.

8: The Others (2001) - So psychological and spooky.  This is such a great movie the first time you watch it.  But there is still so much more to try to figure out on subsequent screenings.  And mama was cray.  

9: The Sixth Sense (1999) - Another psychological, spooky flick.  Ghosts are creepy.  But they really just want your help.  While still being extremely creepy.

10:  The Hills Have Eyes (2006) - Ick, gross, all the yuck feels for this one.  I can't with those mutant psychos.  Still creeps me out thinking about it.  Stupid suburban family on vacation...

It was so hard to pick these and narrow down to my top ten of all time.  I used my brain today guys.  There are so many suspenseful but not quite scary movies out there that I love.  Bram Stoker's Dracula, Silence of the Lambs, Insidious.  I must admit that I have not seen Sinister or any of the Paranormal Activity movies.  I'll get right on that.

Spring.  A time of renewal and abundance.  A time for... ok, enough of that.   It's time for an abundance of shopping!  If you follow me on Instagram, you know I bought this gorgeous little lovely.

Can't wait to do an OOTD post with her.  I have a few more items on my Spring wishlist and thought I'd round up some great items from one of my favorite retailers, Nordstrom, to share with you!  I'm thinking a few of dresses (striped, maxi, print), a pair of pastel kicks, a great bright colored tote, a structured camisole and some neutral heels will round out my Spring wardrobe just right.

Progress Report

We are down 16 pounds since early January.  By we, I mean me/I.  I just like to say "we" because it feels so inclusive.  Cereals - I'm proud of my commitment and progress.  I weigh less now than may pre-Dax weight (only by a pound but still).  I wanted to share with you a bit more about how I'm losing weight, the slow and steady way. 

Here is  sample food journal.  I'm not depriving myself of yummy foods but I am eating way less food in general and have tried to introduce more veggies - still love my Shakeology even though I'm no longer a Beachbody Coach.  My weakness is snacks and sweets.  I can compare my snacking these days to how I used to eat and I know a large sum of my calories used to come from snacks.  They add up and sneak up on you.  My daily calorie goal is now at 1480, which is super low for me.  I admit, I'm hungry all the time but my will power is sta-wrong right now.  I do go over my limit every now and again but this is my goal in order to lose 1.5 pounds per week.  I haven't decided if I want to change my goal back to a pound a week again or not.

I also walk (in-home and around the neighborhood), attend Zumba once and awhile (LOVE!!), do squats and crunches and just try to move a bit more throughout my day at work.  I think I'm finally ready to start an actual workout program again.  If you've read my blog in the past, you may know that I love the Slim in 6 program.  I think I will start with that.  It's always good to feel strong and tone in addition to losing weight and that program did that for me on different occasions in the past.    

My ultimate goal is to lose 30 more pounds but as we officially re-started trying to get pregnant, not sure how that is gonna work out if I do indeed get knocked up.  At least I'll have started some healthier eating habits and hopefully won't gain almost 40 pounds like I did with Dax.
