Queen of Beasts

Friday, July 27, 2012
With the birth of my little baby Leo on the horizon, I haven't thought too much about my own birthday coming up here soon.  Yes, I too am a Leo and my husband is going to be in for it with two of us in the house.  I actually get very tickled by astrology and I love being a Leo.  For me, I'm pretty much a stereotypical lion and I just roll with it.  So anytime I see anything related to being a Leo, I pay attention.

Right now, Joss & Main has a collection of Inspired Decor for the Magnetic Lion.  Such cute stuff.  Some items are quite literally leonine in nature and other decor is more of a suggestion.

This is my favorite piece from the collection.

Put it in Neutral

Thursday, July 26, 2012
I have been on a quest for the perfect neutral or nude/tan handbag all summer.  Everyone has to be tired of me rockin' the same old black Marc Jacobs bag.  It's time for a change.  I finally bought one the other day and love it!  It's one of my last major purchases before our bambino arrives and we begin spending all of our money on him, lol.  I didn't want to spend too much, although I would love a Gucci, Celine, Krakoff or McQueen bag.  I just couldn't.  My original budget was in the $200 - $400 price range.  Here are some options that I really liked but ultimately passed on.
Furla Ischia M Dome
Rebecca Minkoff Small School Boy Bag

Oryany Regina Satchel Handbag

And here is the winner.  It is from Foley + Corinna, a brand I've been a fan of for some time.  She was on sale so I ended up paying about $120.  Happy me!

Misery Wants Company

Monday, July 23, 2012
Get ready for the "woe is me."  Here I am sitting on my couch, typing on my laptop, feeling fairly miserable.  My wrists and ankles are sore.  I can hardly see because my vision is blurry and my eyes are so tired from lack of sleep.  My vagina bones hurt.  (Joke - I know there is no such thing as vagina bones).  Really my whole pelvic region is just sore, sore, sore.  If Jabba the Hut could walk, he'd be doing a good impression of me right now.  The waddle is outrageous.  It used to be a simple duck-like waddle but nuh uh, we have progressed onto seal like status.  Or more accurately, walrus like waddling.  Today was my first day of maternity leave and although very bored, I was more comfortable at home than at work.

I am just so ready for this baby.  Luckily, he's moving and grooving as he should be and that gives me comfort, however uncomfortable it may be.  I definitely envy ladies who have easy pregnancies.  I really hope they know how lucky and blessed they are.  I haven't spoken about my misery all that much b/c I don't want to jinx anything or come off as ungrateful but man, pregnancy was/is just not my cup of tea.  Thankfully, my Mr. is taking good care of me.  Still, I'm ready for my baby!

Anywho, as you are sitting there feeling sorry for me and hopefully praying for me, let me show you some of the temporary set-up that little Mr. Dax will be calling home.

His bassinet is in our master bedroom here at the apartment.  The secondary bedroom is being used for storage.  I love the bassinet.  We were originally going to use it as a co-sleeper but sadly there was not enough room.  We bought a small organizer for clothes, blankets and diapers.  It's going to function well for the time being but I cannot wait to get a proper nursery together.  Hopefully, this arrangement is only going to be for a few more months and then our house will be ready.  Our current living room looks like an episode of hoarders so if you visit us at the apartment, be warned and don't judge.  We are not unpacking because we are turning around and moving again so soon.

So, the hubs and I are anxiously awaiting our first born.  We are as ready as we're gonna be.  Did I mention that I just want my baby?

Resolutions

Saturday, July 14, 2012
I found an old newsletter I sent from when I had my Carmen Colletti Business back in 2006 and thought an article I wrote would be worth sharing even today, in the middle of July, "The Only Resolutions You Need":

  • Embrace sophistication
I still enjoy low-rise jeans but c'mon...we’ve all seen enough butt crack. That is all.
  • Dress like a movie star
You are just as cute as they are. Really. Wear what they wear. You’ll start feeling like a movie star in no time.
  • Cinch that waist
Look at a few Marilyn Monroe pics and you will see why hourglass figures are back. Try this. Immediately!

  • Get your head right
Make an appointment with your stylist to determine a cut and product routine that will help you make the most of what Mother Nature gave you.  My favorite stylist is Kelly, owner of Bella Hair Salon in McKinney - 214.228.9052.

  • My hair after a Keratin Treatment by Kelly

  • Spend your dough where it counts
You should spend more for good Shoes, Handbags and Jeans. Quality matters. For trendy clothing and accessories, be a bargain babe!

  • Posh Purchases:
Christian Louboutin Simple 85 Leather Pumps
Reed Krakoff 'Boxer' Tricolor Leather Satchel
TEXTILE Elizabeth and James Jimi Flare Jeans

    Bargain Buys:
    Peplum Top
    Wrap Dress
    Shimmer Bib Necklace

Just passing on info about a great sale coming up soon.  The F.I.G. finale sale is coming up August 2nd - August 4th.  It is a designer sale with up to 75% off so it should be worth your while.  I should have a newborn by then so no shopping quite this soon for me.  Also, no strollers allowed.  :-|

    The Last Bumpdate

    Wednesday, July 11, 2012
I am 37 weeks today - technically full-term.  Whew!  I feel like I have been pregnant for 5 years.  This has been long and it is still not over but I tell you, I cannot wait for my little man to meet me in the outside world.  I had a Dr.s' appointment today and it looks like we are not going to my due date.  We'll have the little one by 39 weeks if not sooner.  Yee haw!  Baby Dax looks great and passed his BioPhysical today.  He's had 4 and he's always passed immediately.  Already an overachiever.  I am measuring a week behind but again, all is good.  Looking forward to my 75th sono next week so I can see my baby yet again.  Hopefully I don't go into labor before that.  My apartment is a disaster.  The nesting gene, I do not have apparently.  We did set-up baby's bassinet and all his clothing and blankets are washed and waiting.  My last day of work is next Friday.  Anticipation...

Sorry so late with the bumpdate.  Here is last week - 36 weeks and this is the last one:

    How far along?  36 Weeks.
Total weight gain:  We are over 30 lbs… :-|
    Maternity clothes?  Yes.
Stretch marks?  Same old same old.
    Sleep:  Not well at all…
Best moment this week:  Seeing baby Dax on another Sono – I’ve had like 50.  Crazy.
    Miss Anything?  Everything pre-pregnancy
    Movement:
      Lots of squirms and turns
Food cravings:  My grandmother’s Fried Chicken  :-(
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Broccoli and orange juice again
    Gender:  Still a Boy
    Labor Signs:  No
Symptoms:  Heartburn.  Fatigue.  Sciatica.  Hip Pain.  Heartburn.  Braxton Hicks.  Edema - especially my feet.  They are swole up!  I literally have to pee every 15 minutes.  Literally at 7:13 a.m. then again at 7:28 a.m. then again at 7:43 a.m.  Literally.
    Heartburn.
Belly Button in or out?  Still in - it's like a cavern.  I don't think we will have an outie.  Ever.
Wedding rings on or off?  Off.

Happy or Moody most of the time:  Happy but moody sometimes.
Looking forward to:  Finishing settling in the apartment so I can relax before this baby comes!

    Finally: My Baby Shower

    Tuesday, July 3, 2012
I am delighted to share these photos with you.  I know it took a while but I've been a busy girl.  Give me a break.  Hopefully you can tell what a wonderful party it was.  I could not have asked for more.  I loved the eclectic take on a Woodland Theme.  Aren't the details just gorgeous?  Big thanx Kimmie (Kim to everyone else) for hosting at her lovely home, Kelly for her vision and creativity and to Shayla J Photography for capturing this special day.  And...Superdy-Duperdy thanx to my wonderful family and friends for making this awesome memory with me!

Had to add this adorable photo of hostess Kelly setting up.  Isn't she too cute for words?
