4 Year Linen

Tuesday, February 28, 2012
Today I "celebrate" my four year wedding anniversary with my husband.  Celebrate is in (air) quotes b/c we are actually going to dinner next weekend.  My husband is still at work as I write this.  We had dinner reservations at Del Frisco's this past Saturday but I had a pregnancy meltdown due to a complete lack of proper maternity undergarments for my dress.  Being pregnant and fabulous is not easy sometimes.  But I digress.  Anywhoozy, I've been reminiscing a bit on when I met my Mr. and thought I'd share a bit.

We actually started dating about 7 1/2 years ago in July of 2004.  We met at a bar.  Yes, a bar.  Pretty random as it was in Addison and far from his home (Watauga).  I was so close to calling my friend Jen and telling her I was going to stay home that night.  Glad I went.  When I saw him at the bar, he approached me and tried to buy me a drink.  I already had a drink (Goldschläger thanx to Jen) so no go.  We did start chatting and at a brief interval I remember whispering to Jen, "he's cute."  He proceeded to tell me that he was a garbage man who lived with his mother.  I got that he was joking but Jen was like "is he for real?"- lol.  I liked him.  Eventually I let him buy me a drink.  To this day I tease him about dancing with another girl (actually a friend of Jen's) when I went to the restroom.  He still profusely apologizes saying he thought I left.  We had just met - he's so cute.  That was a Friday night.

The following Sunday which was the 4th of July, we went on our first date to a restaurant called Soho in Addison.  We had tapas and listened to live jazz.  Felton was so chill and relaxed.  I liked that about him.  We had effortless conversation.  He was so funny.   When the saxophone player started playing Ribbons in the Sky, I knew this was special.  It was a sign.  I love that song.  I'd always wished I had someone in my life who I could relate that song to.  And they played it on our first date.

To make a long 7 1/2 year story short, we were pretty much inseparable after that.  Sure, we've had some issues and even a couple of break-ups but I always knew he was it for me.  During one of our very short break-ups I kind of started talking to someone else but I knew if I dated someone else or got serious or intimate with anyone else that it would be over for my Mr. and I.  I was not going to let that happen.  He's been the only man in my life and I am so happy and proud to call him my husband.  Four years seems like a day ago but also a lifetime ago.  I really am married to my best friend and that makes me happy as a clam.  And of course, Ribbons in the Sky was the song we danced to at our little wedding reception.  Blessed.

Ha Choo

Tuesday, February 21, 2012
I gave myself permission to buy 3 amazing things for myself before the baby comes (husband was cool with it too).  My first purchase were these amazing Jimmy Choo 'Pela' Cork Sandals. (is that correct grammar)?  I saw them at Nordstrom a couple of weeks ago and fell in love.  After much nail biting, I decided to order them from Nordies.  I do a lot of online shopping...what can I say.

Ahhhh...So cute.  So they arrive yesterday.

Going good so far.  Nice dust bag as you would expect.  Also, a nice care card.  Ok, ok...

How cute is the little metal detail?  I'm loving them.  LOVING them.  And then...

Not sure if you can see it but it's there.  A big ass scratch on the right toe tap.  What?  Oh no.  I was heartbroken.  Sad.  Just depressed and disappointed.  I don't know if this was Nordstrom's  fault or if Jimmy Choo quality has gone down since possibly Tamara Mellon left?  Not sure what to think.  But they got returned today.  So sad.  I may buy them again...in person...they were just so perfect.  My toes looked amaze.  Not even a hint of a raptor toe (you know, when the second toe is longer aka Morton's toe - eek).  I could walk in them even being pregnant and they fit like a dream (I did have to order a 1/2 size up).  I kept whispering to myself, "they are so cute.  They are so cute," or what I thought was to myself b/c my husband was in the room laughing hysterically at me.  But damn, they are so cute.  Boo hiss.  So very sad.

Cape Wear

Tuesday, February 14, 2012
My cape.  I finally wore it in public before this season is over (work doesn't count).  It was a cold blustery day here in Big D on Sunday and the hubs and I had some errands to run.  I had him snap a pic of me in the cape.  Oh how I love it.
Cape: c/o Talbots;  Top: Old Navy Maternity;  Jeans: Old Navy MaternityBag:  Marc by Marc Jacobs via Bloomingdales;  Sunglasses: Loft;  Driving Loafers: Anne Klein via Endless;  Earrings: Target.

Exhibit J

Monday, February 13, 2012
This past Saturday I finally made it out to the John Paul Gaultier exhibit here in Dallas at the DMA, before it closed.  I scooped up my friend Heather and my mom and we were off.   I'd obviously heard a lot about the exhibit and seen pics but I was excited about seeing all those amazing clothes up close.   However, much to my chagrin, it was a madhouse and although the actual exhibit was amazing, I didn't enjoy myself.  It was so crowded and the people were so blah, blah, blah about everything.   Move-a-long y'all!   I do not like crowds like that. Stagnant crowds. It was a downer. But again, the man is a genius and it was so cool to see fashion as art in such a literal sense.  No pics from inside b/c the museum police were watching us like prey, but I did get a few snaps with the old point and shoot of us entering.  At least it was great company and afterward we had a nice dinner at Luna de Noche in Northpark (which was also a madhouse but I'll take a shopping crowd any day).

The Dilemma

Wednesday, February 8, 2012
My husband and I have a problem.  We are looking to buy a home in the McKinney, TX area.  We are not having the kind of luck we had hoped for.   Actually, last year we had a contract on a great home in a great neighborhood but we didn't sell our existing home in time for the contingency to expire so we nixed the deal.  We are in a much better financial situation this year so we should be able to let our existing house go for a lower price that last year.  The dilemma we are facing is that we cannot find the home we want in the neighborhood we want.  Oh, we can find the house of our dreams but it is located in BFE, TX.  And, we can find the fabulous neighborhood but the homes are a bit lacking in the space, look and general ambiance we desire.  I know in real estate, it is always Location, Location, Location.  But I'm not comfortable with "moving up" only to move into a home a few hundred sq. ft bigger than our current home and not be open and fancy like we want.  What's the point?  I want a fabulous home - fabulous to us, anyway.  But what about schools and shopping and food?  The gorgeous BFE home is lacking in surrounding environment.  But the house - the house is EVERYTHING I've ever wanted.  The hubs loves it too, just not the location.  And it is still far from my mom.  I want to move closer to my mommy!!!

Btw, last year's home/neighborhood is no longer an option b/c they stopped building the floorplans we loved and started building new plans that look like they belong on a Wyoming Ranch.  No offense to Wyoming.

Arghh...Real Estate.  Not a fan!!!  What would you do?

Hey World

Big Girl Bump

Sunday, February 5, 2012
I'm not a small girl.  I used to be.  Oh how I wish I was that size back in the day when I thought I was fat.  I blame my weight gain on my husband for keeping me fat, happy and well fed, lol.  Oh well, I'm sure once I have this healthy, amazing little one, God Willing I will get back in shape.  In the meantime, just b/c I am not a size 6 doesn't mean I have to dress like a frumpenstein.  I'm excited about showing off my maternity style.  And...drumroll please...we finally have our DSLR camera so here come the good, er, better pics.  What do you think?

Blouse: Victoria Secret (similar here); Tank: BeMaternity via Target; Leggings: Forever 21; Earrings: (similar here); Bracelet: gifted (similar here); Ring: Mark (similar here); Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs via Bloomingdales (similar here); Shoes: BCBG via Last Call

Garçon Oh Garçon

Friday, February 3, 2012
Clues as to why I think our little snuggle bug is definitely a boy:

1)  I don't have much of a sweet tooth like I normally do (pre-pregnancy).  This is weird b/c I usually have some sort of sweet at least once a day.  I really haven't had a lot of desserts or chocolate lately (other than chocolate milk but that doesn't count.  That's just the only way I can drink milk).

2)  The hubs is convinced it is a boy especially because we are having difficulty thinking of boy names.  He thinks it's a sign.

3)  Everything I am drawn to looking at baby stuff seems to be more for boys.  Lots of black, grey and orange.  Girl stuff is so cute but I've never been a huge fan of what I call baby girl pink.

4)  My Dr. told me so.  At my last ultrasound with the Perinatologist at 13 weeks 1 day, we received an unexpected but amazing surprise.  The doctor asked me if I wanted to know the sex of the baby.  I was like, "for real?"  Of course, I wanted to know and I know the hubs wanted to know.  So he told me.  BOY!  He gave me the obligatory, it's still early...  Then he showed me a close up and said it looked like a boy to him and I concurred.  I was so excited.  I was actually surprised by how excited I was.  I could not wait to tell the Mr. and when I did, he was floored and beside himself.  He was even more surprised that they can tell this early.  That's one of the perks of that fancy equipment they have, I suppose.

Hump Day Bump Way

Wednesday, February 1, 2012
Here is what I wore today.  A Maternity look for brightening up the mid-week blues with a pop of green.

Oh the boys at work had a field day making fun of my jeans. I absolutely love them. They are ASOS Maternity Skinnies and they are great. They have an adjustable waist to grow with you. Very good quality. I also particularly love the tank from Design History. It really covers the bump well.
